IMPORTANT When collecting your car you will need to show:
You will need to sign a rental agreement. Although our rates are fully inclusive of taxes insurance and surcharges there can be local charges such as child seats, one way fees, personal accident insurance, car upgrade, petrol, enhanced roadside assistance, removing traces of cigarette smoking or anything else you agree with the car rental company. You must agree and sign for any such items on collection of the car, as part of the contract rental. It is your responsibility to check the paperwork supplied before you sign the contract as any extras you sign for cannot be subsequently refunded. If you see any charges on the paperwork that you have not agreed to then ask a staff member to remove the charge. WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CLAIM A REFUND FOR ITEMS/INSURANCE/UPGRADES SIGNED FOR BY ACCIDENT. Please take a moment to ensure that you fully understand the rental agreement before you sign it.
Before driving off
Before driving off check the condition of the car condition carefully. Check for dents and scratches to the exterior. Check the condition of tyres. Check the underside. Check the interior seats, carpet, door panels. Also check there is no evidence of cigarette smoking. If you see any damage report it to the car hire company and see that they note the faults on your contract before you drive off, otherwise you might have to pay for the repair of the damage when you return the vehicle.
DOLLAR/THRIFTY SPECIFIC TERMS AND CONDITIONS
RENTER REQUIREMENTS The Renter and any additional Authorized Driver drivers must be in possession of a valid drivers license issued by their respective jurisdictions of residence. In addition renter will be required to produce a major credit card in the renter’s name and leave a credit card imprint. We are sorry but our US rates are not available to holders of US driving licences.
FUEL POLICY.
Gold tariff rentals: Fuel is
not included in the price of rentals, and will need to paid for
locally. The vehicle is supplied with a full tank of fuel and the renter
is
charged an amount, based on the average self-service pump price, at the time the vehicle is collected. Cars should then be
returned empty and no refund is provided for unused fuel.
Platinum tariff rentals: All vehicles are delivered to renters with a full tank of gas/petrol. Renters are instructed to return the vehicles as empty as possible. No refund is provided for unused fuel. In the event of large fuel price fluctuations the car rental company reserves the right to withdraw/amend platinum tariffs by giving notice 28 days prior to rental commencement.
ADDITIONAL DRIVER CHARGE. The Vehicle is rented to a single, specific Renter. Platinum rates include additional driver charge. GOLD 9Fully inclusive renters) may add extra permitted drivers in accordance with Company’s standard policies at a supplemental charge at prevailing counter rates payable locally (Min $10 per day plus taxes and fees) where applicable. Certain locations may have a different charge and in California there is no no charge for additional drivers.
TAXES, FEES AND OTHER CHARGES. Rates include Taxes, Fees, customer facility charge (CFC) and Homeland security fee (HSF), in all regions of the USA, in effect as at 25 Nov 2010. If any additional federal, state, local taxes, fees, charges or surcharges are imposed during the term of this contract, or, if there is a modification to existing federal, state, local taxes, fees, charges or surcharges, such additions or modifications will be charged to the client at the counter.
UNDERAGE DRIVER FEE: Renters must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age, unless otherwise required by law. Drivers that are at least twenty-one (21) years of age, but less than twenty-five (25) years of age will be subject to a supplemental charge at prevailing counter rates unless prohibited by state law. In New York, drivers that are at least eighteen (18) years of age but less than twenty-one (21) years of age are subject to a supplemental charge at prevailing counter rates.
CHILD SEATS. Child seats are required by law in some states. The rental of a child seat is subject to a supplemental charge at prevailing counter rates where available.
MILEAGE CHARGE. Unlimited mileage applies to all vehicle rentals.
DRIVING RESTRICTIONS. In most cases, Vehicles can be driven in any state in the continental United States. See
below regarding Company’s one-way rental and drop off policy.
Vehicles may be driven into Canada (some geographic restrictions may apply) from the following Tour Participating locations only:
New York Area Locations (JFK, EWR, LGA and Manhattan locations), Chicago (ORD
& MDW), Detroit DTW, Philadelphia PHL, Washington IAD & DCA, Los Angeles
LAX, San Francisco SFO, Seattle SEA, Portland PDX, Boston BOS
At limited corporate locations, vehicles may be taken into Mexico only upon approval and payment of an applicable supplemental fee.
ONE WAY RENTAL POLICY. One-way rentals are available free within Florida and California and between any two participating Corporate locations in California, Arizona and Nevada. Inquiry should be made with respect to any other one-way rentals and applicable supplemental charges.

Drop off restrictions.
1. All one-way rentals are subject to availability, including rentals originating and terminating in corporate locations within California and rentals originating and terminating in corporate locations within Florida.
2. One-way rental charges as listed above are limited to pick-up at Company Corporate locations on a request and confirmation basis. One-way rental charges for pick up at a Licensee location, if one-ways are permissible, are subject to charges imposed by the Licensee and are also on a request and confirmation basis.
3. Certain vehicles in specific locations are not available for one-way rentals.
INSURANCE. The vehicle rental Rates include protection against third party liability limited to an amount equal to minimum limits specified by compulsory insurance or financial responsibility laws relating to automobile liability insurance in the state in which the Vehicle is rented (the “Primary Protection”).
The following information is a summary of additional insurance coverages available for rentals within the United States. The summary for each insurance product listed below is not intended as a substitute for the actual insurance policy governing each and is subject to all of the provisions, limitations and exclusions of each policy applicable at the time of the rental. Some of the following may not be available at all Company locations. The coverages, exclusions, costs and the provider of insurance may vary by Company location and are subject to change without notice. The Operator agrees to promote only Company’s SLI in its brochures and not to promote the sale of any other type coverage.
1. Supplemental Liability Insurance (“SLI”) – U.S. Locations. If a Renter purchases SLI, within the United States and Puerto Rico at corporate locations operated by Company, the Renter and any additional Authorized Driver will be protected up to a maximum protection of $1,000,000 (U.S.) combined single limit per occurrence against third party liability claims arising out of the use or operation of the Vehicle for (i) bodily injury to or death of another (excluding any of Renter’s or any additional Authorized Driver’s family members related by blood, marriage or adoption residing with Renter or them); and (ii) property damage other than to the Vehicle or to the property of Renter and any additional Authorized Driver. This maximum protection includes the minimum limits specified by compulsory insurance or financial responsibility laws relating to automobile liability insurance in the state in which the Vehicle is rented (the “Primary Protection”). SLI can be purchased upon commencement of the rental at prevailing counter rates.
2. Personal Protection Plan (“PPP”) – U.S. Locations. Company’s PPP option provides the Renter the benefits shown below in the event of accidental death or accidental injury to Renter and any passengers occurring during the rental of a Vehicle. If the Renter purchases the PPP option at the time of rental, the Renter is covered twenty-four (24) hours a day for all accidents, whether the Renter is actually in the Vehicle at the time of the accident. Passengers in the Vehicle are only covered for accidents occurring while they occupy the Vehicle. PPP is currently available for purchase at prevailing counter rates.

PPP also insures the personal effects of Renter and any member of the Renter’s immediate family traveling with Renter. A member of Renter’s immediate family must permanently reside in Renter’s household. PPP covers only personal effects with which Renter or Renter’s immediate family members are traveling. Benefits for New York originating rentals, the maximum benefits per person during the rental is $500 per person with a total maximum benefits for all persons during the rental of $1,500. Benefits for other than New York and Florida originating rentals, the maximum benefits per person during the rental is $650 per person with a maximum benefits for all persons during the rental of $1,950. PPP pays covered claims even if Renter’s homeowner’s policy provides coverage. Coverage is provided twenty-four (24) hours a day, whether the personal property is lost or damaged while in or out of the Vehicle.
3. Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Protection ("UMP”) – U.S. Locations. UMP coverage provides Renter, any Authorized Driver and anyone else occupying the Vehicle while operated by Renter or an additional Authorized Driver, with coverage for injuries and damages caused by an owner or driver of an uninsured or underinsured third party vehicle, or additionally, a hit-and-run third party vehicle in Florida. This coverage is excess over any uninsured motorist insurance available to the renter and provides up to $1,000,000 combined single limit (non-stacked single limit in Florida) per occurrence. UMP can be purchased upon commencement of the rental at prevailing counter rates.
UPGRADES. Renters may upgrade to another class of vehicle at the time of rental. Upgrades are based on supply and demand and renter shall pay directly to Company all charges for such upgrades.
SATELLITE NAVIGATION SYSTEM (SATNAV). SATNAVs will be available under the following conditions:
1. SATNAV is only available at participating Dollar airport locations.
2. Guaranteed Availability at participating contracted locations based on request on original reservation.
3. Credit card in renter’s name is required and an open charge will be taken when SATNAV is rented.
4. There is no insurance coverage for SATNAV. Renter is responsible for damage to or loss of the unit. Replacement value is currently $700. LDW does not cover SATNAV.
5. SATNAV can be rented only on a per diem basis.
NO SMOKING POLICY. Please note Dollar Thrifty has a no-smoking policy and non-compliance may result in a charge of up to $250. This is necessary to cover the special cleaning required to remove all traces of tobacco residue and smoky odor from a vehicles interior.
Cheap-Car-Rental Terms and Conditions
Cancellation/Amendment Charges
If you need to cancel or amend your booking you must write to us.
Preferably this should be by replying to the confirmation email you
receive following the booking and the car hire voucher returned.
In the case of cancellation, a charge
equivalent to one days rental will be made.
Once your rental has started it is not
possible to change the duration. Dollar/Thrifty will not refund
any unused portion of the rental. Should you wish to extend your
rental this will need to be at local prevailing rates although if you
contact us we may be able to extend the rental using our special
rates.

Complaints
In the unlikely event of a problem or complaint upon your return
please send an email to callcentre@cheap-car-rental.com. We can only
deal with your complaint if we are notified within 8 weeks of
return of your car and you have the relevant paperwork. It is important,
therefore, that you keep your copy of the rental agreement.
If you are collecting your car at the airport, it is imperative that
Cheap-Car-Rental.com is given your correct outbound flight number and
estimated arrival time. If this is not known to you at the time of
your booking your car, please ensure that you inform us at least 7
days prior to departure. If we are not provided with the correct flight
information in good time, no responsibility can be accepted or
compensation allowed for a failed rental.
The location of the collection office is given on our rates page and on the booking voucher. This
information will include telephone and fax numbers and trading hours.
Before the rental agreement is completed a valid major credit
card is required and must be in the name of the lead
driver. Electron/Solo/Maestro cards are not accepted.
Personal Accident Insurance
This optional insurance may be covered by your holiday insurance (check
before you travel). If you require PAI,
it can be taken out locally on
collection of the hire car.
Long Term Rentals
Renters will need to visit a convenient location every 28 days to extend
their agreement
Special Requests
The rental of a child seat /ski racks/ snow tyres / snow chains /GPS
must be requested at time of booking. No guarantee can
be made regarding special request availability.
The costs and conditions of all incidental items payable locally are
subject to local tax.
Documentation
When you make a booking with Cheap-Car-Rental.com a confirmation screen
will give you the details of the booking including our booking
reference. An email will then be sent with the same details. A Pre-Paid
voucher will be sent within 48 hours of the booking being made. This
must be produced at the time of collection of the vehicle. The rental
company will not accept your rental unless this is produced. Cheap-Car-Rental.com
cannot offer a refund for non-production of the pre-paid voucher.
The rental company reserves the right to refuse a rental to
drivers with certain types of endorsements. No refunds will be given for
rentals aborted due to non-production of any driving licence or non-
disclosed endorsements. Faxed or photocopied licences are not
acceptable.
Vehicle Type/Suitability
Cheap-Car-Rental.com cannot guarantee a particular model or make of
vehicle The example vehicle shown is for guidance only and the
rental companies reserve the right to substitute it with another similar
vehicle. If for any reason whatsoever, you are not happy with the
condition of your vehicle, please inform the local car hire company
immediately and Cheap-Car-Rental.com in writing. Cheap-Car-Rental.com
cannot accept any liability where this procedure is not followed.
Mechanical difficulties/Accidents
In the event of any mechanical difficulties or accident involving your
rental vehicle, it is imperative that details are reported to the local
car hire company straight away. You should also notify the local police
in the case of accidents and a signed police report obtained. You should
also obtain full details of any third parties involved. Authority to
repair or replace a vehicle must be obtained from the local car hire
company supplying your vehicle and whose name and address appears on
your voucher and rental agreement. You should retain copies of all
rental documentation in the event that an insurance company becomes
involved. Compensation cannot be considered when this procedure is not
followed correctly.
Insurance Exclusions and Excess
In common with most car rental companies the insurance cover offered by
many of our suppliers does not cover tyres, windscreens, the roof, the
underside and interior of the car and towing charges. You may sometimes
therefore be liable for damage to these items. Contents of the car are
covered by clients normal travel insurance policies. No insurance excess
is payable except for wilful damage or damage to the car as outlined
above. This excludes the state of New York where the first USD $ 100 of
each and every claim and the state of Alaska where the excess is USD $
500.
Please be aware car hire suppliers can refuse to provide a vehicle to
any customer who is, in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet
eligibility requirements. In such cases, your contract with us becomes
void and we will have no further liability to you.
All bookings are confirmed when full payment is received and are subject
to Cheap-Car-Rental.com terms and conditions. No other terms, conditions
and warranties, expressed or implied by law, custom and course of
dealing shall form part of any contract between Cheap-Car-Rental.com and
clients except for those terms implied by law whose application is
mandatory.
The client is responsible for all fines, parking and driving violations,
toll roads, airport access fees etc.
We are not deemed to have accepted a reservation until we have confirmed with our suppliers that a vehicle is available for you and emailed your rental voucher to you. The primary method of communication between
Cheap-Car-Rental and you will be email. It is your responsibility to ensure that your email system is capable of receiving and printing email communications from
Cheap-Car-Rental in both HTML and plain text formats and that such communications are not rejected by your system or by your internet service provider as
"spam". Cheap-Car-Rental will accept no liability whatsoever for losses or failures of any sort that result from you not receiving an email sent by us and our email logs shall be undisputable evidence of the fact that an email was sent.
Period Of Rental
All hires are calculated and sold in periods of 24 hours. In some countries there is a 3 day minimum period. After the car has been collected, it may be possible to extend at these rates by contacting
Cheap-Car-Rental by e-mail or telephone and making further payment as required. If extension is made directly with the local car hire company, the rate may be considerably higher. Missed return deadlines without
pre-authorised extension will be charged locally. Please note that no refunds will be made for vehicles returned early.
The client acknowledges that in making a booking with Cheap-Car-Rental.com
it does so only on the basis of the material contained in this
statement.
All other statements or representations made by Cheap-Car-Rental.com,
its employees, or agents are of no effect unless confirmed by Cheap-Car-Rental.com
to the client in writing.
Cheap-Car-Rental.com act as a broker for the hire companies and a
contract will be taken with the car hire company supplying the car.
Clients will then be subject to the terms and conditions of that
contract and the laws of the country where the rental has taken place.
Cheap-Car-Rental.com accepts no responsibility for and shall not be
liable in respect of any loss, damage, alterations, delays or changes
arising from civil strife, industrial dispute, including air traffic
control disputes, terrorist activity, natural and nuclear disaster, fire
or adverse weather conditions, unavoidable technical problems with
transport, closure or congestion of airports or ports, cancellation of
scheduled airlines and financial failure of airlines.
Cheap-Car-Rental.com and the car hire supplier reserves the right to
levy any government increase in tax or change in law, which results in
additional cost after the confirmation in the reservation.
Cheap-Car-Rental.com's liability to the client for any loss, damage,
injury or accident what so ever, whether arising out of negligence,
breach of contract, or any other cause shall not exceed twice the
invoiced price of rental of the vehicle concerned provided that nothing
in this clause shall limit Cheap-Car-Rental.coms liability for death or
personal injury caused by its negligence.
Cheap-Car-Rental.com will not be held responsible for anyone driving
under the influence of alcohol/drugs, causing willful damage, off road
driving or driving without due care and attention. The client will
indemnify Cheap-Car-Rental.com against this in respect of such claims.
