On the 13th July 2010 the brand new Rental Car Centre (RCC), opened. It is just 1 mile east from Miami airport. No car rental companies have a desk in the airport terminals and the 16 major car rental operators that operate an 'airport' car rental facility now have their desks located all together in a large hall in the rental car centre. |

On the 8th September 2011 the MIA People mover system that connects the
Rental Car Centre with the terminals opened. This eco-friendly light
rail system transports customers in about 3 minutes the 1.25 mile
journey to the car rental centre.
Arriving airline passengers simply exit their concourse and take elevators to MIAs third level moving walkway, which quickly connects them to the MIA Mover.

Cheap-car-rental customers should go to the Dollar or Alamo rent-a-car desk as appropriate where an agreement will be drawn up and you should be offered a map or a GPS if booked. If you ask nicely, perhaps the car rental agent might programme your initial destination and return coordinates into your GPS. You will then be directed down to the second floor (lift or escalators) and there you will be greeted by another member of staff who will wish to see your agreement and who will direct you to your car. You will need to produce your agreement again as you leave the RCC |
